Reading the Signs & Signals along the EFT Road Map: Refining your interventions to Optimize Connections
In every EFT session, there are moments that can easily be missed — a fleeting glance, a shift in posture, a softening in tone, a protective silence. These are the signs and signals that tell the deeper story of attachment, longing, fear, and connection. This training invites participants to slow down enough to recognize these moments and respond to them with greater precision, confidence, and emotional attunement.
Together, we will explore how to more effectively orient couples and partners toward safety and engagement, helping them move from reactivity and disconnection into new experiences of accessibility, responsiveness, and emotional risk-taking. Participants will deepen their understanding of how subtle therapist moves can create profound shifts in the room.
Through experiential learning, discussion, and practical application, clinicians will refine micro interventions that strengthen both intrapersonal awareness and interpersonal connection. Using micro-analysis of video clips, we will hone in on common impasses and opportune moments to fine-tune one's micro-interventions deepen each tango move. Participants will practice identifying opportunities to deepen emotion, heighten engagement, and support their couples in reaching for one another in new ways.
Special attention will be given to optimizing moments of corrective emotional experiencing in each move of the EFT Tango, and continuously supporting the couple's journey towards more secure bonding. Participants will leave with sharper clinical skills, greater confidence in navigating emotionally charged moments, and a richer understanding of how healing connections unfold in real time.
Whether you are newer to EFT or looking to deepen your practice, this training offers an opportunity to sharpen your clinical lens, strengthen your interventions, and reconnect with the power of transformative emotional encounters in couple therapy.

EFT offers a structured approach to couple, family and individual therapy that have emerged in tandem with the science on attachment and bonding. Developed by Dr. Sue Johnson in the 1980s, the model has expanded and been validated by multiple scientific studies. Research studies have demonstrated that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements.
In addition to working with couples, families and individuals, Dr. Zane also offers consultation and supervision services to EFT clinicians who want to further their EFT development . She maintains a private practice in Honolulu, Hawaii.
